Ingredients
8 cups Whole-Grain Bread, stale, cubed
4 tablespoons Grass-Fed Butter or Ghee
2 large Organic Yellow Onions, finely chopped
4 Organic Celery Stalks, finely chopped
2 medium Organic Gala Apples, cored and diced
3 tablespoons Fresh Sage, finely chopped
2 tablespoons Fresh Thyme, finely chopped
1 tablespoon Fresh Rosemary, finely chopped
3–4 cups Organic Chicken or Vegetable Broth, warm
2 large Pasture-Raised Eggs, lightly beate
1.5 teaspoons Sea Salt, or to taste
0.5 teaspoon Freshly Ground Black Pepper, or to taste
0.5 cup Optional: Toasted Pecans or Walnuts, chopped
0.5 cup Optional: Dried Cranberries
Instructions
- Prepare your stale bread by cutting it into 1-inch cubes and toasting them in a preheated oven at 300°F for 10-15 minutes until lightly golde
- Sauté onions, celery, and a pinch of salt in butter or ghee over medium heat for 8-10 minutes until softened
- Add apples and herbs, cooking for another 5-7 minutes until fragrant
- Combine the sautéed vegetables with the toasted bread cubes in a large bowl and mix in the remaining ingredients
- Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish and bake covered at 375°F for 25 minutes, then uncovered for an additional 20-25 minutes until golden brow
Notes
Use stale bread to avoid soggy stuffing.
