Ingredients

Scale

2 cups Whole Wheat Flour
1 cup Unsweetened Almond Milk
1 packet Active Dry Yeast
2 tbsp Maple Syrup
2 tbsp Olive Oil
1 tsp Sea Salt
1 Egg (optional)

Instructions

  1. Warm almond milk to 105-115°F, stir in maple syrup, and sprinkle yeast. Let sit for 5-10 minutes
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour and salt. If using, beat egg separately
  3. Mix wet ingredients into dry until a shaggy dough forms
  4. Knead dough for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic
  5. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 to 1.5 hours until doubled
  6. Punch down dough, shape into rolls, and let rise for another 30-45 minutes
  7. Preheat oven to 375°F and bake rolls for 12-15 minutes until golden brow
  8. Brush with olive oil after baking and serve warm

Notes

For gluten-free rolls, substitute whole wheat flour with a gluten-free blend.

For a vegan option, omit the egg and ensure all other ingredients are plant-based.
