Description

Spooky Mummy Toast is a quick and festive Halloween snack made with bread, sauce, mozzarella ‘bandages,’ and olive eyes. It’s fun, budget-friendly, and ready in minutes.


Ingredients

6 slices bread (white, wheat, sourdough, or Texas toast)

1/2 cup pizza or marinara sauce

6 mozzarella sticks or slices, cut into thin strips

12 sliced black olives (for eyes)

1 tsp garlic powder (optional)

1 tsp Italian seasoning (optional)

1 tbsp olive oil (optional)


Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 400°F and line a sheet pan with parchment.

2. Lightly toast bread for 3–4 minutes.

3. Spread 1–2 tablespoons sauce on each slice.

4. Cut mozzarella into thin strips and arrange like mummy bandages.

5. Place 2 olive slices near the top for eyes.

6. Bake 6–8 minutes until cheese is melted and edges are golden.

7. Cool 1–2 minutes, add candy eyes if using, and serve warm.

Notes

Use sturdy bread like Texas toast for best results.

Blot cheese strips dry for cleaner melt.

Pre-toast bread and use only 1 tbsp sauce per slice to avoid sogginess.

Can be made with vegan mozzarella or gluten-free bread.
