Description

These Southern Crockpot Green Beans are a flavorful and easy side dish featuring tender green beans infused with savory bacon and a rich, smoky broth.


Ingredients

2 pounds Fresh Green Beans
68 slices Baco
1 medium Onio
4 cloves Garlic
2 cups Chicken Broth
1 tablespoon Apple Cider Vinegar
1 teaspoon Smoked Paprika
1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper
Salt to taste


Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, cook the diced bacon over medium heat until crispy
  2. Remove the crispy bacon with a slotted spoon and reserve 1-2 tablespoons of bacon fat in the skillet
  3. Add the chopped onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant
  4. Transfer the cooked onion, garlic, and bacon to your slow cooker
  5. Add the trimmed green beans to the crockpot
  6. Pour in the low-sodium chicken broth and apple cider vinegar. Sprinkle with smoked paprika, black pepper, and half of the salt. Stir well
  7. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours until the green beans are tender
  8. Taste and adjust seasoning before serving. Enjoy!

Notes

You can use frozen green beans instead of fresh for convenience.

Add additional vegetables for a heartier side dish.

For a vegetarian version, omit the bacon and use vegetable broth.
