Description
Ghost Fruit Skewers are a playful, colorful Halloween snack that balance candy-heavy spreads with fresh fruit and cute ghost toppers. Bananas or marshmallows turn into little “ghosts” with edible eyes, making this a festive, kid-friendly treat that’s healthy, interactive, and fun for parties or lunchboxes.
Ingredients
Strawberries
Melon cubes
Green or red grapes
Blueberries
Blackberries
Peeled banana halves (for ghosts)
Large marshmallows (optional ghost toppers)
Edible eyes or mini chocolate chips
White cookie icing, melted chocolate, or yogurt (for glue)
Optional: Clementine “pumpkins,” yogurt dip cups, sprinkles
Short bamboo skewers or blunt cocktail straws
Instructions
1. Wash and dry all fruit. Cut melon into cubes or shapes.
2. Make ghost toppers: add candy eyes and mouths to marshmallows or banana halves using icing or chocolate.
3. Thread skewers: alternate fruit for color and balance, ending with a ghost topper.
4. Pack fruit pieces snugly on skewers for support.
5. Use blunt straws or kid-safe skewers if children are assembling.
6. Arrange on platter, refrigerate until serving, and serve chilled.
Notes
Dry fruit completely before decorating so eyes don’t slip.
If using bananas, spritz lightly with lemon or orange juice to slow browning.
Marshmallow ghosts hold up better outdoors than bananas.
Freeze dipped banana ghosts briefly to firm before skewering.
Best served the day of; hold covered in the fridge for up to 6–8 hours.
