Ingredients
1 cup Warm Milk (110°F)
2.25 tsp Active Dry Yeast
1/4 cup Honey
4 tbsp Melted Butter (Unsalted)
1 unit Large Egg
3.5 to 4 cups Bread Flour
1 tsp Kosher Salt
Instructions
- Activate the Yeast: In your stand mixer bowl, combine the warm milk, honey, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 to 7 minutes until foamy
- Mix the Wet Ingredients: Add the melted butter and the egg to the yeast mixture. Combine thoroughly on low speed with the whisk attachment
- Incorporate the Flour: Switch to the dough hook. Gradually add 3 cups of flour and the salt. Mix on low until the dough starts to come together
- Knead the Dough: Increase speed to medium and knead for about 5 minutes until the dough is smooth and slightly tacky
- First Rise: Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm spot for about 30 to 45 minutes
- Shape the Rolls: Punch the dough down and roll it out to 1-inch thickness. Cut into squares or rounds and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet
- Second Rise: Cover the shaped rolls and let them rise for another 20 minutes
- Bake to Perfection: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 12 to 15 minutes until golden brow
- The Butter Glaze: Brush the tops with melted butter after baking and serve warm
Notes
Make sure to check the temperature of the milk; it should be between 110°F and 115°F to activate the yeast.
Don’t skip the second rise as it contributes to the rolls' airy texture.
